No Sound

I have a current version of QuickTime installed, and up-to-date Java. I passed the midi and java tests, but not the midi+java test: that is, no sounds when I pass the cursor over the note buttons. I can play and hear midi files and all other sound files I have. I can't hear any drum trax I create, nor samples on the jamspace site. Any ideas?

I can't get sound now either.

I created a track, saved, and exported, and everything worked fine. But afterwards, I came back to the site to make a second track and there's no sound at all in the application. I can hear the quicktime tracks on the mainpage, but cannot get any sound out of the application itself, no matter what I do. I tried updating my java player and rebooted my comp, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Hi, I notice a few tracks

Hi, I notice a few tracks you've created that have some content in them.  I'm wondering if things are working better now since posting your note or if it's still broken.   If you got it to work I'd be really interested in knowing what you did, or if it's still not working please let me know that too. I'm seeing some errors in the log files, I'll follow up on those to see if they are related.

Thanks!

Never mind....

For whatever reason, it started working again after I played one of the saved files on my windows media player.

Thx for your response. I did

Thx for your response. I did get it to work, but don't know how! Maybe hittiing record button before creating track? I successfully exported as midi and can play on windows media player. Sounds pretty good. Now, however, after rebooting, I can't hear my existing tracks on drumbox, but can still hear that midi file I exported. Also, the nice video on YouTube appears to be for an earlier(?) version of Drumbox. Is there something comparable now? And, can Jasmin be used in it's current form? Lots of questions, sorry :-)

OK, good to know that it

OK, good to know that it *can* work when it feels like it :)  So later when you went back to drumbox did the screen load (with all the little green beats) only there was no sound?  If so, did you happen to notice if the cursor (vertical black line) was moving?  I'm seeing some errors logged that drumbox is sometimes having trouble finding the java files, that's something I need to look into.

You're right, the YouTube video is for a much earlier version of drumbox that was all done in HTML.  I have been lagging on doing an updated video that shows the current version.  There are some useful features that are probably not getting used because nobody knows about them <g>.

Re: Jasmin, are you referring to my note on the forum about efficient use of media files?  Bits and pieces of that are working, but not enough to be fun yet.  I definitely plan to get back to it but it is turning out to be a big project so I set it aside to take care of some of the more basic shortcomings of the site.  Are you a java programmer perchance?  I'd like to collaborate with other programmers eventually, but right now it's all rather disorganized so I need to clean it up a bit first.  Since jamspace.com is not my day job it has to take a back seat to a lot of things, but my earnest hope is that I will be back to working on Jasmin by February of 2009.

Thanks for your reports on drumbox, please don't hesitate to send problem reports or any other questions my way.

Cheers,
Joe
